Another Special Occasion Post....

I know this topic has probably been discussed to death and I will search through old threads but I thought I would post in the event that a new restaurant that hasn't been mentioned might come to mind. My husband and I will be coming in to visit friends and family next week. Next Wednesday we will be taking out his very good friend and new wife for a celebratory dinner since the wedding was in Hong Kong and we were unable to attend. Joe Beef has been suggested but I don't think a reso is even a remote possibility.
We like all types of food and want a festive atmosphere. If we could keep the dinner to around $300 AD all in, that would be great as well.

While we will have a babysitter for that dinner, the rest of the week we will have our 17-month old in tow, so...family friendly restaurants and events are much appreciated. TIA!

  1. For your special occasion dinner, here are a few suggestions:

Ferreira Cafe: You can't get better seafood than this longstanding bastion of Portuguese gastronomy, located on scenic Peel street. (see 1st pic, fresh cod steak).

Gibby's: Rustic, charming, historic steak-house in Old Montreal. It's huge, so there might still be some space.

PARK Restaurant: Westmount's best kept secret that's not a secret anymore. This place has been the talk of the town and serves THE freshest and most creative sushi you will find anywhere near. (see 2nd pic, nigiri platter)

    Now for the kid-friendly options:

Le Jardin de Panos is a safe option. Decent Greek food in a rustic setting. Very popular, especially if you want a montreal BYOW experience, and it's open for lunch on the weekends. (see 3rd pic, Shisk Kebab)

    1. Its tough to go wrong with my usual special occasion recommendations:

      More affordable:
      Quartier General (BYOW)
      Monsieur B (BYOW)
Dominion Square Taverne (which really impressed me last week when I ordered the special)

Less affordable (though certainly possible to stay <$300 with reasonable ordering):
      le Filet
      400 Coups
      3 Petits Bouchons
      Lawrence

I second all of these recommendations. My favorites are Lawrence, les3 Petits Bouchon and Dominion Square Tavern. In addition I would had Tuck Shop and La Salle A Manger.

      2. Thanks so much for the recs! Can't wait to get to Montreal!!
