Cake Mix in a Springform Pan?

This is a very silly question, but I have a fantastic 10" spring form pan. Can I mix a 'regular' cake mix up and bake it in that or will it leak???

I have a fantastic one as well and regardless it still on occasion slightly leaks, but not all the time. I had no problem making a sponge cake for the Almond Lace Cream Cake on the right in the picture below. You may want to wrap the pan really well in heavy duty foil for insurance.
