Marty Reisman's obit is in the Times today. Wasn't he a player in the development of the Empire Szechuan..er...empire in NYC?
I know that he was friendly with the owners of the original ES on 97th. One of them proudly told me Marty was a notorious gold smuggler.
Never heard that but I do recall seeing him eating there in the late 1970's...(or it may have been the Szechuan Restaurant on 95th and Broadway?).
