Organic Elk in Winnipeg?

Looking for liver from elk. I've tried beef and bison and they are no match for the wonderful taste of elk. I eat it raw for maximum B12 content.

I used to be able to buy it at Vitahealth on Osborne in Winnipeg but now they don't have any and I haven't been able to source any anywhere else. Even grass fed elk liver might be great.

Actually I'd like to try liver from any animal besides beef and bison to see how it tastes.
Any hunters out there that don't like liver and usually throw it out? :)

  1. The Manitoba government has the following as retailers that sell elk:

    Obermaier's Meats
    222 Rosser Avenue
    Brandon, Manitoba
    Phone: 204-728-0707

    Local Meats and Frozen Treats
    #8-1604 St. Mary's Rd.
    Winnipeg MB R2W 3W5

You can try calling, and even if they don't carry the liver, they may be able to special order it for you.

Also, has a slew of producers listed.

Local Meats and Frozen Treats also has a bunch of other meats and fish available. If you like their facebook page, you can keep up with their specials (looks like they offer different products at a small discount on random days--Nov 29 was elk at 6% off,, tomorrow is all fish at 6% off).

I'm in no way related to the store, nor have I ever been there, but I just may be visiting soon!

A place that sells "Frozen Treats" doesn't sound health orientated. I called them but they're closed. But maybe they know some other places that sell organic if they don't.
Here they list the producers without a word as to what they produce, how they produce it or how a customer would obtain it! Gotta love clueless web designers. Without them our online activities would be so dull and unchallenging.

Thanks for the tips. Looks like I've got a lot of emailing to do. :)
