Need a list of places (name, address, phone#,day of week, hours of service) that serve hot meals, or giveaway free groceries in your area for the unemployed, homeless, disabled, veterans and seniors in need.

You can also inquire about giving and voluntering your time to help out.

Not sure what area of LA you're interested in, but here are a couple of ideas:

* MEND Poverty -- A large (and amazing) non-profit in the SFV (they are located in Pacoima). They have extensive food and benefit programs. One of the many distinctions is their huge volunteer base -- I believe they have around 15 paid staff and over 1500 volunteers. * Los Angeles Regional Foodbank -- Info at: www.lafoodbank.org -- click on "Pantry Locator." They are the hub of charitable food distribution in greater LA and have many connections.
