Best Ribs in The Hudson Valley?

hey chowhounders, I have been asked to write a two page article for a Hudson Valley publication on the best places to get ribs in our Hudson Valley.

I am looking for the best Rib spots primarily in Dutchess, Orange and Ulster county's, also Putnam and upper westchester and rockland county's.

I have about a month and a week to visit the locations so let me know!

Bailey's in Blauvelt (Rockland County). Off most of the radar, but a very good local secret for very very good Q.

It's been awhile but I had ribs up in Mahopac at Holy Smoke (I think that's the name) and as I remember they were pretty good.

i live in mahopac so that would be very convenient, ive been to holy smoke and find it mediocre but I never had the ribs so maybe ill give it a shot!

Honestly, it's been a couple years since I've been there so I have no idea what they're like now. I agree with Dale J. that Big W's was good but again it's been awhile since I've been there. I usually get my rib fix when we drive down South. There is always Memphis Mae's in Croton and while they are good for the area I don't think they are a destination place.

Glad to know it's still good, will have to take a ride back up there. I just thought of another place in Cold Spring and sorry can't think of the name but it's right on Rt. 9 and it has the word Texas in it. I never had their ribs but I had a decent pulled pork sandwich there. I'm sure other hounds would know the name of it. If I find it I'll post it.

See this thread for some ideas - and did someone in another thread recently say that Brotha's has just reopened?

Love, love, love Hickory BBQ on route 28 just outside Kingston. Best ribs in the area. Also like Big W BBQ in southern Dutchess county as well.

An enthusiastic +1 for Big W's, though as good as the ribs are, the brisket is even better.
