Prohibition was repealed...

I'd say that deserves one tonight in celebration.

  1. Not everybody celebrated. My Grandfather shut down his 5 gallon still that made Kirschwasser, kummel, and other central european brandies that the major bootleggers did not make. But they still got a cut. In the Austin area of Chicago.

He finally went back to working 5 days a week instead of 3 or 4 after the war started in 1939.

Mom always said she and her brother were some of the best dressed at school.

    1. I'd raise a glass to that. Perhaps a Scofflaw is in order tonight.

      1. I'll toast to that. With some rum I made in my last distillery. Back during the end of Prohibition, from 6/1932-6/1934, my great grandfather was Seattle Chief of Police. On Repeal Day he celebrated with a bottle in hand.
