It appears that Jim Thurman has achieved another title in addition to being a "chowhound": "Spicy-Food Maven." From Jonathan Gold's latest article:

"...the San Gabriel Valley spicy-food maven Jim Thurman, whom I suspect has been the first customer at more than one Rosemead dan dan mian establishment."

I'm both flattered and greatly embarrassed!

I owe a lot to the knowledge of the Chowhound folks here. Thanks again for all your tips, suggestions and the like.

I'm still trying to figure out what sort of attire goes with being a "Spicy-Food Maven". Do I have to wear an ascot?

That distance does make it more difficult, particularly when gas prices shoot up. I consider it a great accomplishment when I've managed to scoop CHers about a new place, or the details of a new place. Particularly on the rare occasion when I've scooped you or TonyC.
