Gold leaf?

Hi all,

Anybody have any idea where I might find gold leaf in or around Boston? WS was a bust and Sur La Table only carries it online now. I have a set of truffles that are about to look mighty naked. :)

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

  1. try the candy/cake supply stores- can't remember the name of the one down by courthouse seafood in cambr. also, ask a local choc maker; mybe they wouldn't mind selling you a few sheets- Lee Napoli at ChocoLee in the So End- is a very nice person.

    1. I just did a search and found this thread from 2006:
It mentions checking an art supply store or Joann fabrics.
Also found these places that use it: Sweet Cupcakes, Haru, Basho

Joann fabrics is a good idea. They have a large baking and candy making aisle. You can also try Serenade Chocolates in Brookline.

      2. i asked after it (and cocao butter for threedogs) at formaggio, but it was a No to both.

        1. Thank you all for checking around and for the great ideas. I tried a couple of the options but struck out (JoAnn's and a local chocolate shop and Whole Foods). Changed my truffle recipe and ordered some gold leaf online to have on hand for next time!
