This is Downtown Los Angeles, just have to mention, the best and fresh Strawberry Cakes. Made fresh every day. They come in all different sizes small to extra extra large.

The Cobbler Lady on Crenshaw: http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/381750

I haven't been there in about 5 years and just hope that it is still there...and still as delicious as it was. During those cobbler hunting days several years ago, nothing else compared to this place...and we tried most of them.

                  B1 Bread Shop
                  Bread Lounge
                  Village Bakery

Obviously, none of the above Eastside/Downtown/French bakeries will carry socket it to me cakes, but.. the pastries are tasty.

And there's also Bittersweet Treat which just grand opened yesterday. (Hey, Pasadena is east right? like.. Far East, but... whatever, they have red velvet whoopie pies): http://losangeles.grubstreet.com/2012...

Hof's Hut, really are the best pies and not to sweet and the crust is amazing. I warm the boysenberry pie for 20 minutes at 325 and life is good.
