New Years Eve in the Quarter or CBD

Any thoughts on a place for dinner on New Years Eve in the Quarter or CBD that is casual and not as expensive as August?
I was thinking maybe Emeril's on Tchoupitoulas but maybe something even closer. I am staying at the Monteleone and want something that I can walk to because I know cabs are going to be pretty scarce. Thanks so much.

Haven’t been yet, but Criollo in the Monteleone looks good. SoBou is right down the block as is Sylvain. I think Sylvain would be the most casual of the three.

Emeril's is an easy walk back to the Monteleone. Also, if you ask, they'll call you a cab (I know this because I'm the last person on earth without a cell phone ... they've always been gracious about whistling up a cab from E.'s).

Note though that Emeril's is not exactly casual and isn't particularly cheap (but maybe that's my fault). At any rate, an excellent choice if you have reservations: it's a festive room with pretty high energy.
