Drinks with a colleague Financial District?

I've been working down here for four months, but still struggling to find a nice place to have a cocktail with a colleague after work. I've gone to Fraunces Tavern, which was okay, but a bit too dark and pubby. Anywhere else where you can get together that's not to noisy and is pretty good at the art of making a decent cocktail?

If you're willing to travel a few blocks and ditch FiDi, Ward III and Silver Lining are in the southern part of Tribeca and are excellent. If you're over by World Financial Center, try the bar at North End Grill.

The Fidi is slim pickings but there are few. Bridge Cafe nice for drink down by Brooklyn Bridge

I don't think the Bridge Cafe has reopened after Sandy but you can check

Have you tried Demi Monde yet? It used to be connected to the Death & Co guys, no idea how it's doing now.

Also keep your eyes peeled for the opening of Dead Rabbit.

The Exchange, formerly SHO Shaun Hergatt, has a very civilized bar area with comfortable seating. You can also get food while seated in the bar area. Noise level is very low. Can't comment on cocktails, as I am a wine drinker, but wine list remains quite good after the change in management. Worth checking out.

The Dead Rabbit is your place. A true cocktail bar. It's crowded downstairs and there are civilized tables upstairs. Decent pub menu. http://www.deadrabbitnyc.com/
