With the exception of the first time I saw one, at a party...made by the host, I've only had them premade. My last one was made by the Finnish Bistro's (Saint Paul, Minnesota) catering department with no sogginess. Even the leftovers remained firm.

I have never heard of anyplace selling them premade: aren't you supposed to make them yourself?
I've never made one, but I admit I've always found them utterly charming and even, on occasion, delicious. A pimiento cheese and deviled-ham salad version was a staple of church-supper buffets and tea parties of my Texas upbringing.

re: xo_kizzy_xo
exactly!
My mom would make them on occasion and it was always stressful as she would make a point of assembling them at the last possible minute since even with more substanial type bread they tending to get soggy/fall apart quickly. I think I remember refridgerating after assimbling to make cutting easier but I could be mistaken. it was long time ago!!
