Basta is only closed temporarily for renovations. Long live their stuffed veal chop!

No Basta is done , Yes renovations are going on , new ownership

Just heard that Basta is reopening. The laundry next door says they are cleaning their napkins right now. We'll see.

They opened in February under new ownership. Apparently the first couple of weeks were rough, but they got a new chef and reinstated some of the old menu. We went in early March and the place was packed, the service was attentive, and the pizza was great. The crust was probably the best I've had in RI.

They said the chef left and no one could run it.
the place wasnt doing any business

        2. Rollies has opened next to Cilantro's on Weybosset St in Providence. Pretty sure this spot is on top of ancient Indian burial ground since everything that goes in there closes within two months. I hope these folks make a go of it.

They offer korean rice rolls (think very large maki rolls) . You pick your protein (pork, beef, chicken or mushrooms), up to three veggies and topping sauce.

          1. noticed trattoria san vivaldi has changed its name (via aurelia? i think). new signs touting their brick oven pizza as well. i'm assuming it's just a name change and not a full fledged overhaul (or new management).

Alfie is still going strong. He's highlighting the pizza (which is phenomenal) and catering in an effort to diversify and attract new business.

that's what i was hoping to hear!
