Leimert Park lunch and coffee

What's good to eat? I'm open to any cuisine, but I'd prefer a casual environment suitable for a solo diner with book in hand.

Also: any interesting mom-n-pop coffeehouses or tea shops where I can sit and read for a few hours?

I love Ackee Bamboo Jamaican. The place is small, casual and the food is delicious. The service is warm and helpful and they won't mind if you sit forever and a day :).
Take a walk down the street to my favorite bookstore, Eso Won.
Leimert is a great place to take your business.

anything BUT the jerk chicken, which is stewed, not grilled. Compared to other Jamaican joints in the city, Ackee (despite the excellent name) falls far short.

Of course there are other Jamaican places in LA. The OP specifically asked for Leimert Park. I'm more than happy to give someone, who wants to visit Leimert, the recommendation of a small business. The owner does a good job.

I like the oxtails and curry chicken. I usually meet friends, who live in the area, and they've all liked their dishes when we dine. I hope you enjoy it.
