restaurant suggestion Pentagon City area

Hi. We are heading into town (flight leaves in 10 or I'd peruse the threads) today and need some dinner suggestions for Pentagon City, Crystal CIty, Arlington Area. We are staying close to the pentagon for the weekend and don't want to drive too far. We have 3 and 5 1/2 year old girls, both well traveled, so while a restaurant needs to be okay with kids it doesn't need to be "kid friendly," as that usually means a mediocre dinner! All types of suggestions welcome... we are just looking for good food and a fairly relaxed atmosphere. Thanks so much!

        1. You don't mention it, but you might want to consider Old Town Alexandria. You can easily take the Metro from Pentagon City to the King Street station. Then hop onto the free trolley that loops from the Metro down to the waterfront. Old Town has lots of restaurants where children and their parents are comfortable (meaning, where you don't have to instruct the children repeatedly to speak in a whisper) while still appealing to an adult palate. Enjoy your trip!

If you have a car and drive to OT then be sure to use a parking garage or get back to your meter within two hours -- the parking tickets are fiendishly high. A family of 4 can eat at South Austin Grill (looks like a bar on the first floor but most dining is upstairs), Bugsy's (deep dish pizza), Faccia Luna (more pizza) or Chadwicks without breaking the bank. You can walk into any of them with 2 or 4 or 5 kids in tow and they will all smile when they see you come in. Plus it is a nice, walkable area with lots of historic interest, cobblestone streets in some places and safe for parents with kids.

For a more foodie experience (and more $) you might want to try Vermillion, Majestic Cafe, Restaurant Eve, Le Refuge or Brabo.
