Dende (palm) oil in San Diego ?

honkman Nov 30, 2012 01:41 PM

We want to make XinXim and tried to locate dende oil in San Diego but couldn't find it with the usual suspect, e.g, supermarkets, WF, asian or mexican markets (haven't tried Tropical Star yet). Has anybody seen dende oil in San Diego ?

Try Andres Market on Morena, by the Cuban restaurant of the same name. If they don't have it Amazon.com will

Not yet, but I walk past it daily. They seem to draw a crowd for the Acai bowls.

When I still lived around Pittsburgh, I had a roommate from Ghana. His relatives would send him ingredients to make traditional Ghanian dishes, and a good amount of them had dende. So if you really get in a bind, I'll ask him for a care package complete with fufu flour and enough dende to last us both, haha.
