The Dresden - anyone?

Going there with a friend next week, I've never been... opinions?

we tried going there about 6 months ago. we were treated horribly. we wanted to sit at a table and order drinks and appetizers. they made us sit in the bar area which was under construction AND had no tables. the dining area where we wanted to sit (but were not allowed) had tons of empty tables. so we left. we didn't want to sit at a crowded bar. we wanted to sit at a table, order multiple drinks and eat some fried food. i'll never go back to this dump.

Marty and Elaiyne are the draw. They're somewhere between Classic and Kitsch......... depending on your POV.

I can recall going there with my Mom and Step-Dad maybe 25 years ago......... when I could order a Ramos Fizz with out feeling odd..........Oh, No.... I guess they're cool again......... so maybe Marty and Elaine are too. ;o]]]]]

There is only one reason to go, Marty & Elayne. 31 years now going on 32 of playing at the Dresden. Watch Swingers with Vince Vaughn before you go.

The food is okay. Old school. Garlic bread is good and I liked the French Onion soup. But really, you are not going for the food. The drinks are good and the entertainment is classic. Go for those and let the food be of secondary importance.

Honestly, calling the food even "okay" is probably being generous. Edible is probably appropriate. As mentioned above, you're not going for the food and, if you are, you should probably look elsewhere. I'd keep it as simple as possible. A steak or maybe a few apps. Avoid any sort of seafood.

I agree. They're not even in the same league. Also similar menu to Dan Tana's, which doesn't have the greatest food in the world but is a hell of a fun time.

At least on the weekends, they serve prime rib, which is really difficult to ruin.
Order the P/R, assuming you will eat red meat, and you will survive the evening.
And as another said, no seafood.
Cocktails, prime rib, and the check please.

I find it hard to take more than 5 minutes of Marty and Elayne.
The food is bad, and so are the drinks.

agree with cls on all points. it's worth going once for the kitsch factor---have a drink, don't eat, enjoy a bit of marty & elayne then go some place else.

I kind of agree with you, though I can stand at least an hour long set.
