Best Breakfast Near FLL?

Hey fellow Chow-ers!

I have a wicked layover at 6am at the Fort Lauderdale Airport next month. Was curious as to the best breakfast spot where I can jump in a cab, grab some great grub and kill some time before my next flight. Look forward to hearing your thoughts ..

Thanks!

I think Grampa's is average, agree that their pastries and free cinnabons are good but their hash browns are meh and they don't have home fries!
Lester's is only a little better and has an outside seating area which Grampa's doesn't.

Ally's Comfort Cafe in Davie (Just south of 595 on SW 136th Ave). I recommend the pancakes (I like the banana chocolate chip). The cab ride will likely cost you $20 each way since the restaurant is pretty far west of the airport.

Without a doubt Grampa's blows away anything mentioned here already. Trust me on this.

What do you like so much about Grampa's? I've been there a couple of times and found it to mediocre at best.

All of their bread and pastries are baked fresh daily. I like the omelets. I didn't realize Foxy Brown was open for brunch. They have an amazing hot pretzel app. However Foxy isn't open at 6 am and it's kinda far from FLL.

Lester's is good for diner fare. I totally agree with the comments on the Floridian. It is very old and very dirty. Also good and on Las Olas is the crepe restaurant. Since you don't say how long your layover is I don't know if this would work, but Foxy Brown serves brunch on weekends and the food is delicious. Their crab cake benedict is wonderful.

I second Old Fort Lauderdale Breakfast House...Very good food and unique oven-made pancake. The Floridian is an old Fort Lauderdale institution, but not worth bothering with...old, dirty and mediocre food. Lester's is the quintessential diner.

Grampa's Bakery (about 7 minutes from FLL).
17 Southwest 1st Street Dania Beach, FL 33004

They open at 6:30 a.m. and its fun to people watch - you never know who is going to walk in. They have amazing pastries; baked fresh daily.

I've always been charmed by Lester's for its old school diner vibe. You may also want to check out Old Ft. Lauderdale Breakfast House:

The Floridian in Las Olas is not a bad place. You can walk the street after breakfast

Lester's Diner on State Road 84 is a short distance from the Airport. It's a typical diner, open 24/7.
