What to serve with quiche?

ChervilGeorge Nov 25, 2012 09:23 AM

I'm planning a smoked salmon, dill, goat cheese quiche and need side ideas? Soup? Salad?

With all that yumminess, I'd want a green salad with a nice, acid-y vinaigrette--champagne vinegar or lemon juice, maybe.

I agree with salad - something including both mild and bitter greens (like mesclun) and a touch of sweetness, like a little fresh or dried fruit (e.g. diced pear or craisins) and balsamic vinaigrette.

Yes, quiche calls for salad. But please make the quiche either with salmon and dill or with goat cheese put the other stuff on the salad: salmon quiche and salad with goat cheese or goat cheese and spinach quiche plus salad with salmon.

We love this salad with roasted pears and blue cheese from Melissa D'arabian.

You might have to leave the goat cheese out of the quiche so it doesn't clash with the blue cheese. It is a delicious combination of flavors. I do serve the chopped green onion on the side since not everyone is a fan of raw onion flavor. Or a simple dish of roasted asparagus would be nice with the salmon and goat cheese quiche.

I always do a salad served in frico cups.

Salad with peppery rocket, radicchio, and some clementines.

Or very strong hot coffee, excellent crusty bread and buter.
