Caramelized bacon - what took me so long?!

I know that bacon in sweet dishes has been trendy for a while, and is perhaps overdone to the point of falling out of favour, but I just had my first experience tonight. OMG! I didn't think I liked it at first bite, but then I couldn't stop. I needed to remove myself from the kitchen to stay away!

I topped thick cut bacon with a mixture of brown sugar, ground pecans, maple syrup and cayenne (thank you Ina garten) and baked it until crispy. Wow! Just felt the need to share..,,,

  1. I know what you mean! Isn't it unreal? I do similar but break the mixture into chunks (along with nuts and the goop) and sprinkle with fleur de sel.
