Restaurant recommendation Berlin NYE
Hi,
I am travelling to Berlin on December 29th for three nights with hubbie, and staying in the Swissotel. Hotel booked….and one lesson I have learned from other holidays is to book restaurants in advance, I can’t stand arriving in a city and having to search for restaurants…..We are foodies…and enjoy a nice meal. I have booked two restaurants, and I am still looking for a restaurant for NYE. A lot of restaurants have mad crazy prices that I am not willing to pay ( approx. €500.00). Other restaurants are asking that I prepay / reserve using my Credit Card…over email….and I am nervous about this….Recently stung on another city break with credit card!).
Can anyone recommend a nice restaurant with decent food that we can book for NYE in Berlin?
Not sure of exact location but I understand that it is close to the Kadewe (sp?) store

May I ask which other two restaurants you have already booked? That might give me an idea what would "round out" your culinary stay...
The Swissotel is indeed near KaDeWe (walking distance, actually), so you should definitely swing by there some day.
Renger-Patzsch is offering a pretty good deal for NYE, but I'd also look into Weinbar Rutz, Les Valseuses, Katz Orange, Pantry, and perhaps some other restos in your neighborhood.
Have you looked at Swissotel's own restaurant, 44?

Pre-payment in Berlin on NYE is pretty normal. I've done it the past four NYEs in Berlin and never had any problems. Restaurants are trying to avoid no-shows. You've got lots of choice and many places have started to list their NYE "Silvester" menus online.
If you're staying near KADEWE you can easily go anywhere via public transit as you're on the S-bahn, U1 and U2 lines (trying to take a cab is a nightmare on NYE).
