Daddy Dough Donuts in Westwood -- has anyone been?

Just noticed this place. I haven't been yet. Seems pretty ballsy to open up two blocks from Stan's. Anyone tried it yet?

Wanted a doughnut before golf today. Found a parking spot on Weyburn just east of Westwood and deposited two checks at BofA. Then walked to Daddy Dough shortly after 8 a.m.

CLOSED. A doughnut place closed on a weekday just after 8 in the morning.

Screw them.

Where are they in Westwood Village?

On Weyburn in the BofA building. Used to be the sandwich shop. We tried the samples of their cookies & doughnuts when they opened and nothing special.

Does not bode well. I live a block N/W of Westwood Village and try to shop and eat at local places, and I've never seen it. Never saw the sandwich place either -- read about it here or eaterla.com or somewhere. Maybe they'll get some traffic from UCLA and hospital/med folks walking down to the new Target.

Speaking of Westwood Village, I read about something interesting going into the Socko's next to Diddy Riese. Went in today and counter guy at Socko's knew nothing about it...

Have heard that Fab's Hot Dogs will be moving into Socko's space early next year.

It'll be interesting to see how they do. There have been a couple of hot dog places inside Stan's Donuts over the years, but they didn't last. Sadly nether did Spoc's (from Cabbage Patch proprietor Samir) which opened in the old Buck Fiddy space.

Gourmet hot dogs and sausages. That's why I'm skeptical of Fab's, but maybe they'll have better luck. I think Spoc's has been replaced with Fat Sal's.

The website states since 1985, but when I click on the Locations link, instead of listing various locations, a page on how to enter the franchise game for this business appears.

For some reason. this does not seem to bode well and I doubt Stan's Corner Donut Shoppe need worry about an excess of competition.
