Cleaning electric kettles

KaimukiMan Nov 23, 2012 09:31 PM

a friend only drinks water that has been through the purifier on the water dispenser of her refrigerator. But she only drinks room temperature or warmer water. She is constantly heating water in a pan on the stove. someone recommended an electric kettle, or even a stovetop kettle (ease of pouring) but she feels there is no way to get the inside of a kettle clean as you can't open them up.

if anyone has any helpful hints it would be appreciated.

I can stick my hand into my electric kettle (Oster, 1.7 L) to clean it (prob should more often, now that you mention it). There's a good variety of $20-30 kettles with a wide mouth opening out there.

My thought is that she will only be happy with her current set-up, since she is quite particular.

Why in the world doesn't she get a Brita counter-top filter-pitcher?
