Trader Joe's now open in Brookfield (WI)

They cleaned up that industrial waste hazard site on Bluemound a bit south of the UPS compound and opened a Trader Joe's. A friend and I visited that location for the first time this week and their products are similar to the ones at Bayshore but the parking is not such a nightmare.

It is not the type of place where I would do my daily grocery shopping, but they have some great items that are worth the trip. Friendly and helpful employees as well.

Like all TJ's, they have some lesser-known (to put it nicely) bottles of wine and brands of cheese but we found some real gems for the price. AND there is a bowling alley within walking distance. :-)

  1. And a good games and puzzle store across the street.

    1. I got our Thanksgiving turkey there this year; Excellent! TJ's is the only place I know of in town to get New Mexico pinon coffee, and I am THRILLED to not have to go to Bayshore.

And since the bowling alley and the puzzle shop have been mentioned, it should also be stated that there is an excellent guitar shop up the block.

Good to know. I have never tried their turkey but will now try one the next time we are looking for a turkey.

Because the puzzle shop and guitar store have been mentioned, I will comment that Wine Cellar of Wisconsin is across the street. It is a nice little wine store that has a good variety of wine at various price levels. They also have frequent tastings at their bar in the back of the store. Great sales on beer and wine from time to time.

I've noticed the Wine Cellar many times but have never stopped in, nor did I know anyone who had. I'll have to check it out. Thanks!

Will you folks please do a better job on timing. The good news and recommendations always seem to hit 2 weeks after I get back to the land of palm trees. Lets try harder to post these tidbits the first two weeks of each September, please.

The last of the Carr Valley will be consumed this coming Friday. Then I go into withdrawal.

I do feel your pain; Carr Valley is an essential in maintaining balanced body humors and the harmony of the spheres. But there are other souces for Carr Valley cheeses on this side of town. We would have been glad to help.
