I just wanted to say thank you to everyone here who helped me with my sometimes dumb questions. My first time hosting Thanksgiving was a success thank to you all (and my mom who was a great sous chef). Only really had a few major glitches... left the pie in a bit too long, and left the sweet potatoes under the broiler too long (followed the recipe that said 3 min but I guess mine got too hot), and it burned the marshmallows. The potatoes (which I got from a link to an Epicurious recipe on a thread here) were delicious though.
Also thanks to whoever posted about laying out the serving dishes with post-it notes noting what dish is for what food ahead of time, that was a huge help!
I'm way too old to make rookie mistakes, but make them anyway! Yesterday, it was forgetting about the sweet potatoes. By the time I remembered, we decided we didn't need 'em after all (altho' they'll be on the leftover plates today). I don't do lists or get frazzled about boo-boos (i.e. turkey was ready a good 45 minutes earlier than it was supposed to be), so calm comes with age! Congrats on finding what worked for you for a calmer day, a few sizzled marshmellows and all!

I too would like to thank everyone if i may. I am always posting panicked, last minute questions that really aren't that bright and someone is always there to respond and be super helpful. This year it was a thanksgiving cookie calamity and thanks to the help here, no calamity! :)
