The Dungeness crab season opened last week, and our SF board friends are feasting and posting about crab availability and prices up there.

Has anyone seen reasonably priced live crabs in the SGV or thereabouts, and could you tell us how lively and large they were? TIA

      "reasonably priced" In your opinion.

Some L.A. Hounds like to eat Gangnam-style, while some others don't. There's a whole spectrum of what constitutes "reasonably priced" in this town.

Truth. Fish king reasonably priced or 626 reasonably priced?

The OP asked for reasonably priced in the SGV, do your price deducing from those clues. Its amazing that a simple question elicits four comments regarding pricing and not one on crabs. OP I have found them at Ranch 99 in the past.

Thanks, I am really sorry I included "reasonably priced", the fact that I am trying to query prices might suggest that I am looking for bargains, ala "SGV", but answers seem hard to come by.

I also usually buy at 99 ranch or Shun Fat, but have moved out of the SGV myself, so I can not track prices like when I shopped there regularly. I see Dungeys mentioned in the new Hmart ad, but can not read parts of ad not in english, and they do not seem to list a price.

            "eat Gangnam-style"... hilarious

      2. $5.99/lb yesterday at Seafood Market (Rosemead)

        1. They are going for $3.99/lb at Ranch 99 in Arcadia with a limit of 2 crabs per person.

          1. $4.99/lb at Shun Fat Rowland Heights. No limits.
