Good for a group/surprise?

I've been lurking on these boards for a while and now I need to ask for some advice! A friend of mine (Minnesotan currently living in LA) is engaged and we'll be taking her dress shopping when she is in town at Christmas. We'd like to throw her a surprise engagement party/dinner afterwards. Unfortunately, though I am in the bridal party, we aren't in a position to foot the bill for everyone. So what I am looking for is:

A place that would be good for a group of about 15, private room or just anywhere that has a good set-up for accomodating a group like that. Not too pricey, with entrees about $15, since we will have to ask everyone to pay their own way. In the cities, maybe inner ring suburb would be best. And bonus points for an atmosphere or staff who might be extra helpful, as the dinner planners will be arriving at the venue with the bride, we won't be there to direct early arriving guests.

Thanks, everyone!

  1. Sweeney's in St. Paul has a couple of semi-private rooms that would work and meet your price requirement.

If you're shopping at the MOA, Red Rossa might be an option. I don't believe that they have any private rooms, but they may be able to accomodate a party of 15. They're not in the mall; across the street on the south side - good food at reasonable prices.

    1. Any of the D'Amico & Sons locations might work well for your event. If your friends are wine drinkers they could also enjoy free top offs for their wine glasses.

They may not have a separate room but they are able to accommodate a group of the size you will have.

And most importantly they have some really tasty food!

      1. The Blvd near Ridgedale in Minnetonka off of 394 has a room that would work for your group-it's has decent food and reasonable prices.
