Smoked Ricotta question

I have had smoked ricotta before and it's delicious. Because of that, I am going to stuff jalapenos with ricotta and smoke them in an electric smoker. All the recipes for smoke ricotta call for cold smoking though. Will it be okay to hot smoke my jalapenos with stuffed Ricotta and cooked sausage? I also want to just add a perforated tray lined with cheese cloth and then ricotta to have extra smoked ricotta to eat. Will this be okay in a hot smoker?
