Portland Lunch for Family Gathering

Hello -- my extended family of 9 (including 3 children ages 8-15) are gathering on Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving, and we're looking for nice/upscale place for lunch in Portland, Maine. We're hoping for very good food in any price range and atmosphere type, although a quieter place where we can have a conversation would be nice. Thanks for your suggestions!

I guess I'll take a stab at this. My first choice for an upscale lunch with a group of that size would be Miyake but I'm guessing that not everyone would want sushi although there will be other items on the menu. Staying in the Old Port there's the Salt Exchange which meets your criteria. Vignola Cinque Terra serves lunch on Friday and Saturday and has a pretty cool chefs table off to the side just outside the kitchen. I think it's big enough to accommodate your group. If so, it could fit the bill perfectly. David's on Monument Square is another option. All these places also give you good before and/or after lunch shopping options nearby as well.

I've had lunch at Salt Exchange twice, and it was exactly as requested by the OP.
