swiss meringue buttercream with frozen egg whites?

I am making a very large carbonara this weekend, will probably use a dozen egg yolks. Of course this means a plethora of leftover whites. I have been wanting to try a swiss meringue buttercream, but do not have a specific occasion coming up to make a cake or cupcakes. Can I freeze them to use at a later date for this purpose?

  1. yes you can freeze egg whites with no ill effects.

      Thank you J99, I knew that they could be frozen, just wanted to make sure that there would be no problem when the end result is a swiss buttercream
