Koo Zee Doo portion size question

  • 9

I've made a reservation for six in December. I've heard that the portions are quite large at Koo Zee Doo. For those who have been would you say that the appetizer and entree portions are each enough for two or more?

Thanks

  1. They will guide you as to how much to order. Last time 5 of us had 2 apps and 3 mains & had plenty of food.

Yes, the dishes are meant for sharing for two. The salad with red wine dressing is enough probably for 3 and is excellent. The duck and rice is oustanding.

I hate places like this. I most often dine alone.

My favorite Greek restaurant was replaced by a place whose appetizers are sized for two. I want the flavors of a couple different appetizers but not enough food for 4 people.

    2. A group of seven of us ordered four appetizers and four mains. I was very satisfied regarding portion size, yet I probably wouldn't change that for six people. You do want to try a variety of items, right?

Personally, I would not miss the octopus gravy or the shrimp with hot sauce.

Same meal and agree 4 and 4 works. My fav was the bacalhau.

      2. It does depend a bit on the dish, some of them are a little smaller than others, but splitting a dish between two diners is a good guideline if you're trying to plan what you might order. A few of the dishes are truly gigantic, mainly the Bife à Portuguesa, which is practically dinner for two all by itself. I haven't been there in a while but last time I was there they also had some appetizer specials which were smaller than the ones on the regular menu.

        1. One last question if you don't mind. Which wines did you all bring? Any great successes?

l brought a white port that all seemed to like. Many dry Douro. Light Portugeuse whites as well.

          2. We just celebrated a birthday at Koo Zee Doo last night. It was a table of 10, and we went with five apps and four mains and while we did have a little left, it was all very good. We could have ordered four of the quail apps (made do with two) and they'd have been gone in seconds. The octopus in gravy was also amazing.

While a table of 10 in such a small spot can really challenge a kitchen and service, everything was perfect.
