Looking for anniversary reccomendation in DC??

Anything new in DC? Nothing too crazy as far as cuisine goes. My wife is pretty picky. We like Central, BLT, J&G, Bourbon, Charlie Palmer, etc. Hoping for something new american with a nice atmosphere. I have a reservation at Blue Duck, but it may be a little tough for her. thanks!

  1. I forgot to say its sunday so that rules out some places.

    1. I don't get: "it may be a little tough for her"...

Blue Duck sounds like a good idea, but a couple others that might work: Cedar, New Heights, Palena, Mintwood Place or Atlas Room.

      1. What do you think the issue would be with Blue Duck Tavern? The answer to that might help us recommend places. In general I think Blue Duck is good for picky eaters because there are a lot of traditional options (chicken, steak, pie! etc).

I think Mintwood Place is a great option. If she likes more simplistic foods than I would go with the stellar roast chicken. The chef there also use to cook at Central, so that might help you out since you already like that restaurant.

Another option is Ris. I love the food there and they have a number of items that fall under the classic American range (although done in a gourmet fashion) that she might like. The chicken pot pie in particular is excellent, especially on a cold night.

My opinion: Blue Duck and it's not even a close call.

        2. What about Bibiana? Proof? Ris?
