Birthday cake?

perk Nov 17, 2012 11:17 PM

I'm not a cake person (or sweets person), but I want to buy a birthday cake for a friend. Since she IS into sweets, she's tried most places. Are there any new, scrumptious places that have really good cakes? Thanks!

Susie Cakes in Brentwood, but I am sure that her other locations are equally great.

I have no idea what you have in mind when you say "birthday cake"

But if it was my birthday, I would be happy duck if someone brought me the lemon meringue cake from Proof Bakery.

Just fucking ridiculously good. Makes me weak in the knees just thinking about it now. Holds well for day in the fridge too.

Sorry I wasn't more specific.....but I'm not sure what she likes. I don't mean it has to be a "traditional" cake. Just know that she is the one at work who does everyone else's birthday....with some sort of cake....and I wanted to do the same for her. I'm just cake impaired. But he lemon meringue cake sounds ridiculously good....even to me. And Susie's sounds like a good place to check out.

Wow that's quite the testimonial. I wish I'd read this before I stopped on Sunset to pick up Lark's coconut cupcakes today...that cake sounds like a winner.
