Savannah oysters Thanksgiving 2012

Heading to Savannah in the morning, if anybody local has had some particularly good oysters in the past day or two would love to know from where.

Haven't had a raw oyster in months and am planning on eating my belly full next week.

Well, just ate some fairly decent raw and steamed oysters at Bernie's. They were from Galveston TX. Savannah really needs a better oyster bar, or somebody should tell me where it is.

I would also like to know why Florida oyster shuckers cut the meat free of the shell and why Savannah leaves them attached.

Last night we had some very good,if hard to eat, baked oysters. I enquired of our server why nobody in savannah cuts the oyster loose from the shell. "The shells are too delicate". WTF?
