Barcelona Recommendations Split from California

(This thread was split from a discussion of Basque food and Pinxtos on the California board at: -- The Chowhound Team)

I think your clarification is a good one. Toothpick is a better word than skewer as the latter generally denotes something larger. Heading to Barcelona in a week and looking forward to eating LOTS of those and everything else in sight :)

  1. Barcelona has a lot of Basque places -- I had a great night of pintxos at Euskal Extea in the Gothic quarter. Placeta Montcada, 1 but you can find it on Google maps as well.

Ooh, thanks for the recs. Saved :) Getting super excited. Our apt. is in the Eixample district within walking distance of the Sagrada Familia and all sorts of great food.

the Eixample IS gorgeous (almost ideal) and is close to great food.

<edit> don't miss Gaudi's Casa Battlo and Casa Mila in that 'hood. the window mullions on Battlo are modeled after chicken bones.

Thanks, kiddo. I'm beyond excited :)

    2. Here's a pic from this morning. Had with some albondigas and a glass of cava. Due to a multi-country strike, about all we could do in Barcelona today was a little eating and drinking!

          oh I hate you.

but if one is going to be stuck with nothing to do but eat and drink, I can imagine worse places.

            Gotta keep the CH-heritage intact!
