Hillcrest/Mission Hills lunch

k
keena Nov 14, 2012 08:32 PM

Want to take some wonderful junior colleagues to a nice lunch in the area. 6 of us. Just looking for good food and service. All suggestions appreciated!
We liked the ambiance of Olivetto but service was very meh in the past. Taste of Thai is great but we do that for other bigger lunches.

Akinori will now open for parties of 4+ at lunch so long as you make a reservation before hand. Probably an awesome opportunity to have the sushi counter to yourself.

Dang one person won't do sushi and Kous Kous doesn't do lunch so I think the consensus is Ortegas.

            Have you considered Dbar?

Dbar looks very cool. Will toss it out there. You like it a lot?

it's a favorite of two good friends of mine. I originally thought it was just a place for sweets, but the savory menu is no slouch. They offer wide enough selection and the prices seem very reasonable. Service on my visit was fine as well.

Do they do relatively large parties 10-12 ok? We have a lunch and the menu sounds great but we have to get back to work too.... :-(

I haven't visited with that many. They certainly have the space to accommodate, but I can't speak for the service. I would probably just make sure to call a day or so before to give them plenty of heads up.

We did Dbar for lunch the other day. It was good.

As much as I love US, it's not Hillcrest or Mission Hills.

Might as well suggest Cafe Chloe, Dobson's, and a boat ride to Coronado.

How is parking near US at lunchtime? Red Door is a good idea too

We never had problem finding street parking.
