Retro Dining at Hotel?

I am trying to remember the name of an old-school sort of dressy restaurant in a big hotel on Nob Hill or Union Square. Have tried several different searches but have come up empty. It's a red leather booth and strong cocktail sort of place... Or am I crazy?
