Thanksgiving dinner out in SF

DirtyD11 Nov 14, 2012 01:01 PM

Hello Foodies!

Wondering if anyone can recommend a quality Thanksgiving dinner out in San Francisco.
Nothing super fancy, just quality FRESH ingredients. There are so many 4 star suggestions on Open Table but I don't trust the rating system. And they are listing Buca di Beppo as a 4 star restaurant, when I worked across the street from one and I can tell you ALL of their food comes out of a can.

Didn't know if there were places that are regularly open on Thanksgiving.
I was going to go to La Cicca, but they are closed :(

Thank you!!!

There's already a topic with a bunch of posts: http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/874525

OpenTable's star ratings are averaged from user reviews.

Ha ha, pondering that Buca di Beppo rating has kept me up at night.

There are already a few other threads with similar topics. Also consider searching for "Thanksgiving 2011"

Thank you both. I searched TDay postings after I posted, found some good suggestions. I was a little premature. I have made reservations all over the place in hopes of finding something for the group. There are a couple on my list that I am unfamiliar with, can you give me your opinions on them please? The others I am pretty familiar with...

        One Market
        Bluestem Brasserie (new for me)
        Campton Place
        Epic Roasthouse
The Plant, Embarcadero (new for me)
        McCormick & Kuleto's

Yay food :) Just hoping to make a decision in time to cancel in time.
        Thank you!

Of that list, I'd pick Epic.

The Plant is NOT vegetarian. It's 'All organic produce, free range organic poultry, sustainable seafood." (according to its website).

Oops. I ate there and remembered it as vegetarian. It certainly has tendencies in that direction. TG menu:

How many reservations did you make? Are you planning on cancelling day of, or evening before?

Oh no. I would give them proper notice to cancel. They all have at least 42 hour notices

I've had several meals at McCormick & Kuleto's and while I think they are just fine for tourists who may not know better, I have found their food to be just generally okay - and usually over-salted. I've never been to The Plant, but from your list, I would put McC&K on the bottom of your list.

Yes, I actually am working on a new list, the only one I will keep from my list is Bluestem.
                New list...

                Wayfare Tavern
                54 Mint
                Bar Tartine
                State Bird Provisions
                Rich Table

Not sure if they are all open on TDay but I will check all of them today. Please don't steal my reso!! :)

I don't think any of those places are open this year.

No kidding! I assumed as such, luckily one was available for a reso, Wayfare Tavern. Luckily we will be in SF longer than just one day and can pay a visit to more than one amazing spot to eat :)

                    thank you!!
