Best pumpkin pie + apple pie within 80 miles of Manhattan?
Looking for a top-notch bakery or farmstand to pick up Thanksgiving pies, especially pumpkin, apple, and apple crumb. Any recommendations in the Downstate NY/Lower Hudson Valley region that serve really outstanding, traditionally prepared pies worth driving out of one's way?
I'm willing to head as far north as the Poughkeepsie/New Paltz area and as far northwest as Monticello.

re: spa
Absolutely second that emotion. spa beat me to the recommendation. But check online or by phone first--they're a small place with limited capacity and justifiable popularity, so you really need to reserve a pie from them. And note that they're in Upper Nyack, not Nyack itself, in a small strip mall between a residential area and Nyack High School, and not in the main commercial area.
If they're sold out, another couple of options in Nyack and nearby: Didier Dumas, on Main Street in Nyack, and Carousel Cakes in Nanuet.

Me Oh My Pie Shop is bit further than you specified in Red Hook, NY, about 20 miles past Poughkeepsie. www.meohmypieshop.com

Not a farmstand but Galloways in Scarsdale. I don't know about the pumpkin pie because I've never tasted pumpkin pie in my life but the apple crumb pie is amazing. The apple pie is fantastic too, but oh that apple crumb...and they also have a chocolate cream pie which is fabulous. They have peculiar hours, so if you decide to go, call to find out when they are open and if they take pre-orders for Thanksgiving.

re: MRS
Although Galloways is usually open on the weekends only, they are definitely open for at least a day or 2 before Thanksgiving. I just can't remember if you have to pre-order.
ETA: I just called Galloways because I was curious. The answering machine said that they are open on Wednesday, 11/21 from 7am to 7pm. They will have 9" pies in most flavors...pumpkin, apple, apple crumb, chocolate cream plus a few others that I didn't get and a host of other things. They do not, however, take orders...it is first come first served.

For apple pie, Fraleigh's rose hill farm has the best IMO. Call first to see if they are still making them or better yet see if they have any uncooked pies left. http://pickrosehillfarm.com/
Totally worth the trip! -
