This groupon had more rules than others I have bought. Everyone at the table has to order an entree, for example.

I've had lunch there a couple times in the last month. Not as busy as Cutty's, but nice n tasty.

It's always pretty busy in there in the evening. I presume this is just them trying to advertise a bit to attract more people at off-peak times?

I hope you are right. The Groupon logo may as well be the Grim Reaper.
While I appreciate saving money, this vulture capitalist business model feels like picking the clothes off a dying person.

Getting off topic I admit, but we've bought Groupons and their ilk for well over a dozen restaurants (mostly in Metrowest), and all of them are still operating.

Getting further offtopic, we used an "Amazon Deals" coupon last night (same concept), and the server said "I'll take that Groupon for you". Considering how poorly the Groupon company is doing financially, I think it's pretty funny that their name is turning into a generic while their finances rot away.

My mind always goes to the punchline of this SNL bit to explain how Groupon gets businesses in trouble to sign up with them.

                The answer is simple: Volume.
