Birthday dinner suggestions in Calgary

Hi. Five of us are going out for a birthday dinner on Saturday in Calgary. The birthday girl likes places like Moxies, Earls, and Cactus Club, so nothing too exotic, but we'd like to try somewhere similar that we've never been. Any suggestions? Thanks so much! :)

I'd suggest Borgo or Cibo on 17th Ave. Lively atmosphere and mostly "non-exotic" Italian fare.

If your group are carnivores, we always like Gaucho for special occasions—the meats are delicious, there's a decent salad/side bar (sometimes with really good fish), you can try a variety of items and it's a flat rate that's not too bad.

Go to Redwater Grill on MacLeod Trail--more expensive than the places the b-day girl already likes but not exotic, pretty casual but excellent service and delicious food. Just an idea! have fun!

I had a good girls night at Black Betty Burger Bar recently. Lots of "gourmet" burgers with your choice of sides, plus I think there were entre-sized flatbreads, salads, sandwiches, etc. on the menu. The food was on the rich side- lots of cheese on the burgers!
