ISO: Powers Irish Whiskey

I've had no luck finding this in the area -- does anyone have any tips on this well-regarded booze? I'd prefer roughly somewhere subway-accessible, or Northwest of the city.

I need to stop paying so much attention to craft beer and wine stores, I guess! I went through Central Square at lunchtime and picked up a bottle at Supreme Liquors.

Tis my choice as well, when I don't feel flush enough to buy Redbreast. I got some at Gary's in W. Roxbury last week.

I assume you mean retail; my local pub always has it.

I saw it at Martignetti's in Brighton the other day, but it's usually not hard to find at any place with a decent selection of Irish whiskey.

Yes, I meant to specify retail and didn't. I know nothing about whiskey and don't much care for the stuff; I'm searching for it as a gift.

I'd call it a really good everyday whiskey -- the front of my usual Irish and a Guinness order -- not so much a special occasion one. It retails for $22 or so in MA. The 12-year-old is predictably smoother, but closer to $40 here for a 750ml bottle.

It's 21 - had a sniff last night - it's good stuff.

Call but pretty sure Federal Wine and Spirits has Powers - do you know Joe? He's their whiskey guy. Good man that Joe.
