November 15, 2012 is Beaujolais Nouveau Day

The first Beaujolais Nouveau of the season will be available. Is anything going on in Los Angeles to celebrate? Any wine bars serving it?

  1. I can't think of any restaurants I've been to recently that serve Beaujolais. I remember (back in the day) when Beaujolais was flowing and celebrated. I'm not sure what happened.

    1. I went to Cafe Stella one year, and they had a celebration of sorts. But that was several years ago. You might want to check.

Last year Church and State had a special dinner for that day, but I looked at their website and didn't see anything about it this year. The one restaurant in LA that celebrated it every year was the Cafe Four Oaks in the middle of Beverly Glen. Because our son did his elementary education at the Lycee Francais we attended several of the dinners there that were organized by the school. But Four Oaks is long gone and no other restaurant appears to have picked up the baton.

I did notice in looking at online information that the Mercedes-Benz dealership of Beverly Hills was having a celebration, including food and entertainment, revolving around the day.

      2. According to its event calendar, Vinatero Wine Shop will feature its annual "Beaujolais Nouveau Celebration" tomorrow.

Keep in mind that 1) Vinatero is in uptown Whittier, the eastern edge of Los Angeles County, and 2) the only items served at its tasting area are artisanal cheeses and breads. I've found the staff helpful and friendly, always eager to talk wine with their patrons. Enjoy!

        1. Just got a note from Satos Uy's Papilles restaurant in Hollywood that they'll be doing a special menu for BND and serving the Domaine Dopeuble.

Nice! I've been here once. Great restaurant. The owners are very much into natural wines. The food is quite good as well.

I bet Santo's Mignon wine bar would also be serving it then.
