This regional brand from Baton Rouge has been around for a long time. When I visit the DD in the Florida panhandle, I tried it and was surprised and pleased that a supermarket brand at a reasonable price was so good. Brought some home with me - that was, maybe, 18 months ago.
Got on their email list and then saw a $2-off coupon to introduce the brand to our area, because it was coming. No mention of who would be selling it - St. Louis is primarily loally-owned chains - so I emailed and asked. WalMart, they said.
Not my favorite place to shop, but there's no sense in being close-minded when it comes to food, so I trek to my nearest WM. Only available ground, but okay, they have the dark roast I'd gotten and liked. Took it home. Not at all what I recalled, very acidic and, well, cheap-tasting. I don't claim to be perfect in that department but it sure didn't taste the same.
Have they changed the product to reach the Beast of Bentonville's price demands? Izzit just me?
