Kansas City - enroute from downtown to the airport

First, thanks to everyone for all the great KC information on this board.

Here's the one thing I can't quite figure out: we have an early evening flight on a Sunday out of MCI. I'd love to be able to stop and pick up some sandwiches or some food that will travel well to take on the plane since we will get home very late. I know there is little or nothing at the airport, but is there anywhere inbetween downtown and the airport - or even a slight detour - where we could get some grub for the flight?

Thanks again.

Sunday...that's tough. Off the top of my head and what will be open:

    - Cosentino's downtown market has great prepared foods, sandwiches, etc. Tons to choose from. Look it up http://www.cosentinos.com/downtown/

Otherwise, Carollo's Deli in Rivermarket - great italian sandwiches.

This is going to sound weird but there is a restaurant inside the Southwest security gates in terminal B - Pork and Pickle that has good sandwiches and good pork sliders. You take an elevator to it once you are through security.

I have heard good things about this restaurant as well. Those of us that fly United or Us Air out of terminal A have very little to choose from, especially after they dropped Arthur Bryants.
