Bar Umbriagio...has anyone checked this out as yet?

  • 4

I searched and came up empty-handed...

Curious to hear whether any Chicago hounds have checked this place out. With so many amazing Italian restaurants and, small plate destinations in the city, I take our dining decisions very seriously.

We love Piccolo Sogno and look forward to our reservations at "Due" this time around (visiting from Toronto). We'll also dine at The Purple Pig (at least once!).

Other than 1/2 price bottles of wine on Wednesday, I'd be curious to hear whether you think this spot has something new and interesting to offer us?

The menu certainly looks interesting and the wine list is tempting but execution and service is so important...any experiences here?

Thanks so much!

  1. I had trouble finding info about this place on the internet until I found that the proper spelling is Bar Umbriago. They have a website at www.barumbriago.com

It just opened this past June, in the space formerly occupied most recently by Eatt.

Thanks nsxtasy, I've corrected the spelling. This is a Rosebud restaurant fyi. I came across it because of some buzz around the wine list but when I checked out the menu online I was impressed. Seems like the chef has a good background but I couldn't find anything here to sway me one way or the other.

When I look at the title of this topic, it still looks like it has an extra "i" in the name. It should have only one.

I don't normally care about typos/misspellings but it prevented me from finding out about it, so I figured I should mention it.

Very odd. I was able to edit the subject line however for some reason it didn't take. Hopefully folks who've been there will know what I mean. If we do check it out I'll report on a new thread to ensure the info is searchable and add a link back to any info I might get here.
