Old South Park Restaurant??

  • 5

Perhaps someone can help my failing memory...

In the mid-90's (around 1996), I went to a restaurant that IIRC was right across the street from South Park. It was kind of on a corner, and I think it was on the south side of the park. I would describe the cuisine as either New American or Bistro. It was not South Park Cafe. I remember it being quite popular.

Does anyone remember the name of this restaurant? It seems to be gone now.

Thanks...

I'm not delusional. I was really there.... :O

  1. Ristorante Ecco. It was very good and hard to get into, at least during that period, while Wendy Downing was the chef.

Ahh, yes. That was it. Thanks, Robert!

Do you know when it closed?

Closed in 2001, one of many casualties of the dot-com bust. Downing left a couple of years earlier and I think there were several chefs after her.

I remember their chicken under a brick. I keep a brick near my grill ever since eating that dish. Put the brick on the grill when warming the grill, place brick on chicken during cooking. Does good stuff.

My wife had a chicken dish there in 1996 that she still talks about!
