The Cabin - Valhalla
Finally made it to this place I've been hearing so much about. Went with a bunch of guys and we sat at one of the tables by the bar, because we couldn't find anyone to seat us and the bartender told us to sit. About five minutes later she came over with menus and took our drink order. For apps we had buffalo wings, buffalo shrimp and a Brooklyn pizza. The wings were average, but the sauce tasty. The shrimp were better than the wings. The pizza was very good, not great, but better than I expected.
For dinner, I had the crab cake BLT. The crab cake didn't have too much flavor, but how bad can a BLT ever be. The remoulade wasn't as tangy as I had hoped, but not bad. The fries that came with it were pretty average. Friends had the burgers, the grilled portobello sandwich and the Tuscan chicken sandwich. None raved about it, but none disliked it. One guy really liked the fries.
We each had two beers and the bill came to $25/person before tip. So it's very reasonably priced. I'm not a service stickler, but the service was pretty bad, although our server was supposed to be off, but got stuck because of the snow. I guess I can say that grade is incomplete. I'd definitely go back if in the area, but seemed to be strictly a neighborhood kinda place.
I like the Cabin for an easy Friday night dinner. The Mediterranean salad is really good and light. I agree that the pizza is much better than you would expect, and that the service leaves something to be desired.
I like the cabin also, not as a destination place but if I'm in the area kind of place. I agree with you about the service, a little dazed and confused at times.
