Where to celebrate Thanksgiving in Edinburgh?

  • h
  • 2

I will be with my daughter in Edinburgh on the Thanksgiving day, Nov 22nd, and am wondering if there are fellow Americans having a get together, a celebration we could join? We live in Austin, TX, and will be traveling in the UK for that week.

Thanks for all ideas and advice!

  1. I don't think that Edinburgh is a huge outpost for Americans to reside but fingers crossed that you get lucky. I wonder whether getting in contact with the universities could help. They sometimes put on events for overseas students and they may be happy to help or point you in the right direction.

Calistoga is the only restaurant that I know is doing a nod to Thanksgiving but since it's combined with a wine tasting I think that it's more of a celebration event rather than the homely get together that you're looking for.

There is a North American Student society at Edinburgh University which might help.

I also saw this on yelp but it might be a bit formal.

I live in St Andrews (about a hour and 10 mins on the train from Edinburgh plus a 20 minute bus ride or a £10 cab ride from the train station) where there is a very substantial US student population. I know that the old course hotel is serving a thanksgiving menu and you will more than likely hear some familiar accents.

      Hope some of this helps
